Our living room was in desperate need of a makeover, but we didn’t want to spend a lot more money, since we’d just completed many other projects.
After catching a couple of Freestyle episodes on HGTV, I got inspired to look around the house for things that might work in the room. As we were sitting [...]

I was so excited about having the kitchen finished as our major project for the summer. So you can imagine how upset I was when I dropped a wine bottle on the tile, putting a crack in the middle of it. (No, the bottle did not break. Go figure.)
I was glad that my first cracked [...]

In the never ending saga of home improvement, our youngest son is getting in on the action, too.
He already had chosen a space theme for his bedding, so my mother-in-law (Jimmie) came up with plans based on that. From there, we began our project and kept within a budget of $200.

Bed in a bag: $60 [...]

Here’s a list of some of my favorite shows on HGTV. They’ll definitely get you inspired to think about sprucing up your own living space.

Curb Appeal
Every time I watch this show, I want to go to a home improvement store. One of these days, I AM going to paint the exterior of the house and [...]

The sink and new faucet are installed, in addition to the tile on the countertop. We also painted the vent above the stove in hopes that it would blend in better than the previous harvest gold color.I really love the new faucet that was installed. I especially love the soap dispenser that was also installed [...]

This project turned out way better than I expected. As in my previous post about accent walls, I was very unsure about this idea.
Now that it’s complete, I’m extremely pleased with the results. First off, it complements the color in the room and the border in the kitchen. It also breaks up the color on [...]

More home improvement projects are currently in progress at our home. The latest one we are tackling is an accent wall in our den. The main reason this project came about was my husband’s disgust with the amount of beige in our house.
I, for one, do not feel there is too much; nevertheless, we’re about [...]

Alright, my mother-in-law is back and ready to tackle the other side of the countertops in our kitchen. Because we were short on time for her last visit, we decided to wait to do the side with the sink. Some of the considerations we’re taking into account also is whether or not we can put [...]

Last week, I went back and did the finishing touches on the cabinets and cleanup on the tile. First things first, if you think you’re saving time by not putting down a drop cloth, stop now and just do it. I spent a good 30 minutes using a scraper to get paint off of the [...]

All right, so I was so excited that the cabinet project turned out so well, I thought hey, let’s change the countertops too. Not really, but again the project was well worth it.
So when Jimmie brought the boys back on Thursday, she was amazed at the cabinet transformation. After some discussion (not including Scott), we [...]
